About ANCILE

Motivation

Sufficiently motivated, equipped, and skilful hackers can readily breakthrough standard cybersecurity measures such as encrypted communication, firewalls, advanced authentication, and authorization methods, and systematic software updates. This is due to four main causes.

The first are zero-day vulnerabilities exploited before patching. The second is interoperability constraints delaying patch deployment across complex software stacks. The third is phishing and social engineering enabling intrusion without technical vulnerabilities. The fourth consists of long-haul stealth APT attacks that remain undetected for extended periods.

Zero-day attacks are rising sharply. Geopolitical tensions increase risks for Critical Digital Infrastructures in the European Union. The global APT protection market is projected to grow dramatically by 2030, reflecting the urgency of the challenge.
